Under the hashtag ’#moreismore’, Blackstar welcome the next-gen HT Club 40 MkII into the Venue Series. The second edition of this stomping amp is the result of three years of redevelopment, resulting in a surprisingly compact and even more surprisingly lightweight valve combo wrapped in boutique-grade style. And there’s more, since this two-channel amplifier now packs a myriad of tone-tweaking options. The clean channel now comes equipped with bass and treble controls and a Voice switch that can be hit to inject some extra sparkle. The drive channel has an immediately richer and fuller sound than that of the MKI, and by playing with the dedicated Voice switch and Infinite Shape Feature, the output can be flipped from classic British to gritty American – either via the control panel or the included footswitch.
The Blackstar HT Club 40 MkII: Far-Reaching Sound
Under the hood, you’ll find a pair of ECC83 valves in the preamp section and a pair of EL34 valves in the power amp section: a meaty quartet to match the meaty 12 inch Celestion speaker mounted in the cabinet. This team-up delivers 40 Watts of power, which is more than enough to take on rehearsals and smaller stages, and via the built-in attenuator, that rating can even be shifted all the way down to just 4 Watts for both bedroom and studio work. The FX loop has been coupled with a level switch to support pedal integration and the built-in reverb features a Dark/Light switch for more custom atmospherics. This combo even features a USB port for recording, completing an undeniably creative and far-reaching Blackstar offering.
