Allmänt

Renamed the Peavey 6505 back in 2004 to celebrate the maker’s 40th anniversary, this legendary tube amp head has been the go-to for many-a metal, hardcore and rock guitarist for over two decades. Apart from the four 6L6GC power amp tubes, the 6505 is fully modelled after the original, simple-but-effective design drawn up by master-builder, James Brown. That means this 120-Watt amp head packs all of that renowned tone and classic reliability, and remains ever-popular among shredders and riff-slingers.

The 6505 Head: Ready to Sculpt That Famed American High-Gain 6L6 Sound

The two channels offer you two different takes on that famed, American high-gain sound of 6L6 power amp valves teamed up with a 12AX7 preamp. The Rhythm section serves up switchable sounds that range from bright cleans to dark crunch, which can be nicely saturated in Lead mode. Both channels also feature individual pre-and-post gain controls for dialling in the distortion and output volume, and come with an easy-to-use 3-band EQ. The sound produced by the power amp can even be sculpted some more using the fitted Resonance and Presence pots.

Extra Potential

The flexible Peavey 6505 Head can be hooked up to speaker cabinets with impedances of 4, 8 or 16 Ohms, with the two outputs making sure that both half-stacks and full-stacks are no problem. On top of that, you’re getting two guitar inputs (high-gain/normal gain), a mono effects loop jack for your most-loved pedals, and a preamp output in case you want to throw in an external power amp of your own. Last but not least, Peavey include a footswitch that can be plugged directly into the remote switch input.
