Allmänt
Dipped in fresh cream, only four-hundred of this indulgent edition of the Maxon OD-9 will ever be made. This delicious, mild overdrive adds the natural output of a valve amplifier while leaving the pure, original sound of your guitar untouched. The smoother distortion that results is made possible because the distortion signal is generated by the amplifier section of the pedal instead of a separate circuit: a classic and unique design that includes a JRC4558 IC chip, and one that has been imitated countless times by other pedal-builders. The collection-worthy Maxon OD-9 Creamdrive is exclusively available in Europe.
The Maxon OD-9 Boost
The Maxon OD-9 doesn’t just serve up excellent overdrive, but a notoriously impressive clean boost. Set the Drive pot to zero, engage the pedal, and your guitar sound is immediately given a kick while the tone is left intact, and the circuit is more silent than ever. Switched off, the true-bypass setup keeps the signal just as clean and uncoloured.
Maxon
First born in the ’60s, Maxon was initially busy producing pickups, but by the end of that defining decade, had already started dipping into the dynamic world of effects pedal development. Since they were mostly making pedals for other brands, when the ’70s arrived, Maxon were building stompboxes almost exclusively for Ibanez. As such, many legendary Ibanez pedals are actually Maxon designed and made. The most renowned pedal from this period has to be the Ibanez Tube Screamer (also known as the Maxon 808 Overdrive). This partnership carried on well into 2002 when Ibanez and Maxon finally parted ways. Ever since, Maxon have been producing their own gear, under their own name, and some of their fresh pedals include versions of older Ibanez stompboxes – reissued, and re-stamped with the now-independent Maxon name.
