The Meinl Sonic Energy Kenari Rod Shaker may look a bit like sleighbells. However, this comparison only holds true visually, because the sound could hardly be more different. In fact, the Sonic Energy Kenari Rod Shaker has a considerably warmer sound. This is due to the caps made of Javanese almond. The sound can be varied a lot, depending on how you play the instrument. By shaking it horizontally, you get a somewhat broader, friendlier sound that fits nicely into soundscapes. When shaken vertically, the sound becomes shorter and more defined, which is very desirable for indicating the pulse during a dance. Its fairly loud sound makes it perfect for use in acoustic settings with multiple instruments, such as a rainmaker and a djembe.
