Finding your sound involves the long process of building a unique combo of an instrument and other gear. Your sound is essentially your voice, and it’s this voice that the Hamstead Soundworks Zenith has been designed to perfect. This high-spec stompbox can be set up to serve as an EQ, booster, or compressor, and thanks to these three underlying circuits, can be deployed to add subtle nuances, or perform some extreme tone shaping that goes way further than anything you’re used to. Via the silent, digital switching of the fitted OptoKick footswitch, you’re granted direct access to each of the three independent and entirely analogue circuits.
The Zenith: EQ & Compression
The Zenith has been fully furnished with an acutely detailed, active three-band EQ circuit that prevents the trebles from getting too shrill while keeping the bass warm and tight. Because it’s been equipped with extra Q and frequency range mini-switches, mid-range section is insanely versatile, and on the back of the box, you’ll find another mini-switch for toggling the compression and equaliser signal paths. Maybe add on a fast attack and medium/long release courtesy of the compression section, and the result is everything you would expect: a sweet, transparent response that’s able to enhance any setup. In short, the Zenith is an astoundingly potent tone shaping tool.
