Topped with poplar burl, finished in an otherworldly Tropical Seafloor Burst and mounted with an Accu-Cast B50 bridge and two potent PowerSpan Dual Coil pups, the Ibanez SR400EPBDX takes the much-loved Soundgear Series up a notch. The five-piece maple and walnut neck has been bolted on and given a mega-slim SR4 profile and twenty-four medium frets to support a smooth and nimble feel. Couple that with the lightweight and rounded-off SR-body, and this four-string bass offers the ultimate in playing comfort.
The Ibanez SR400E: The Sound
Thanks to the two-pickup layout, this bass has an immediately rich and dynamic mid-range sound that, through the three-band EQ of the active electronics is voiced with maximum definition. Customise the output via the volume and balance pots before flipping the Powertap switch and scrolling through three different sonic profiles that either combine both pickups for a humbucker sound; isolate them for single-coil sound with a cleaner, humbucker-style output; or hit the sweet spot between the two.
