Bearing boutique-grade features for a surprising price, this five-string stomper from Ibanez has all the comfort of an SR body shape and all the playability of a multi-scale neck. The construction of the Ibanez SRMS805 bass starts with a solid okoume body with the liquid look of a deluxe poplar burl top, and ends with a bolt-on five-piece jatoba and walnut neck finished with a panga panga fretboard. You might not be familiar with panga panga, and it’s certainly not common, but here it’s been used for it’s tonal warmth and stunning wood structure, backing up a set of twenty-four fanned medium frets and inlaid position markers.

For the ultimate in sonic diversity, Ibanez have opted for set of two passive Bartolini BH2 pickups. These soapbars have a punchy output framed by a smooth response and outstanding definition, while the cores boast an especially wide magnetic field to ensure supreme vibrational capture and excellent balance across the strings. Boost or cut the mid-frequencies using the no-nonsense three-band EQ controls to carve out a quality of tone to please the most discerning of bassists, or bypass the active circuit completely for more rounded, passive output.
