Ludwig has been one of the most trusted and renowned drum makers for decades – they’re also one of the oldest. While they certainly produce many ’high-end’ kits for professional drummers, they haven’t forgotten about where it all begins. As such, the Accent Series is fully focused on the beginner drummer and, rather than just offering a set of drum shells where you have to get the stands and cymbals and so on separately, Ludwig have been kind enough to compile a complete kit of five drum shells, two cymbals, a kick pedal, drum throne (also known as a stool), and all the stands and fittings you’re going to need to set everything up. All you need to bring is your set of sticks and a little dedication.
The Ludwig Accent Drive Drum Kit
The core of this kit are the five drum shells. The largest is the 22 x 16-inch bass drum, which is usually set up on its side and at the centre of the kit. Since the bass drum is played with your feet, a kick pedal also comes included. Mounted on top of the bass drum is a set of two small toms which measure 10 by 8-inches and 12 by 8-inches. Standing on a set of legs and to one side of the bass drum, a 16 by 16-inch floor tom is also included and, if you’re right handed, this particular drum is usually placed on your right. If you’re left-handed, then you can simply move it over to the left. To finish, an all-important 14 by 6.5-inch snare drum coated in a matching finish is provided.
Hardware & Cymbals
To set up your kit, a complete pack of stands has been included that, in the drumming world, is usually referred to as your hardware, or hardware pack. Here, Ludwig have provided a snare drum stand, a kick pedal for the bass drum, two tom holders to mount the two toms to the top of the bass drum, as well as three all-important floor tom legs. An essential 14-inch hi-hat is also included alongside a 16-inch cymbal that can double as your crash and ride and, so you can securely set your cymbals up, you also get a pair of matching stands. To top it off, this excellent starter pack comes with a drum throne and offers the kind of Ludwig-grade quality that’s built to last decades, and be built upon as you progress.
