Kramer Guitars put a neon-coloured eighties stamp on the present with the Custom Graphics Collection edition of The 84. Bearing the heart of a pure rock-machine, this fearless show-off packs plenty of swagger. Designed by Chris Stemmer, the special optically-warping ’The Illusionist’ graphic that coats the top has been inspired by hot-rodded choppers, while the alder body has been fully loaded with a Seymour Duncan JD double-coil that purrs and roars with unadulterated, straight-up rock tone. Pop the push/pull volume pot and the coils are placed in parallel or series, doubling the sonic range.
The 84: Armed with a Floyd Rose & EVH D-Tuna
Balancing the shameless flamboyance with some super-serious hardware, the Baretta has been fitted with a Floyd Rose 84 Series double-locking tremolo bridge and a narrow R2 locking nut to support wild tremolo tricks and firm tuning, and an EVH® D-Tuna® and a built-in Floyd Rose LRT-L40 Trem Stop enables drop-tuning at the mere flick of a switch. The ebony fretboard has been given a modern 12 inch radius and 22 jumbo frets for a light and tight feel beneath the fret-hand, and since the neck has been given a coat of butter-smooth satin-gloss, you’re left with little doubt that you’ve got a fully fledged shred-machine on your hands. The uncompromising 84 comes complete with a Kramer Premium gig bag.
