While holding firm to age-old Fender tradition, the models bears some welcome modern upgrades. The ash body has been loaded with pair of newly developed Yosemite single-coils where the bridge pickup has been finished with wax potting while the neck pickup has a shellac coating, all in the name of reducing unwanted feedback and injecting the output with defined and responsive dynamics, while the fitted and famed Greasebucket Tone Circuit can be rolled back to dampen the higher frequencies, without enhancing the bass.

As soon you get this pro-model in your grubby mitts, the quality can literally be felt. The classic maple neck has been finished with the snug feel of a modern C-profile, a rounded 9.5 inch fretboard radius, and the full range of a set of 22 jumbo frets – a step up from the more standard medium jumbos, these frets support a lighter touch especially when bending notes and tapping. Topping it off and firming up the tuning, Fender have installed a set of their very own ClassicGear machine heads.
