Proving that a mini amplifier can be big, the Positive Grid Spark MINI manages to spit giant sound via two 2 inch Custom Designed speakers, and when you team it up with the Spark App and you’re getting a whole universe of sound in one little box. We’re not kidding: when you pair the Spark with your iOS or Android phone or tablet, you gain access to a mind-boggling array of guitar and bass sounds and effects. Of course, you could also stream music through the stereo setup and set the Spark up as a high-grade Bluetooth speaker… and play along – whether your weapon of choice is a guitar or bass, and whether it’s an electric or electro-acoustic model. Or, you could simply dive into the Smart Jam section of the Spark and build yourself a virtual band out of authentic-sounding bass lines and beats to help keep your timing and hone your skills.
The Positive Grid Spark MINI: Custom-Optimised EQ & Over 10,000 Presets
The slimmed down, battery-powered edition of the Spark hasn’t just been kitted out with optimised equalization with enhanced bass, resulting in an impressive output, but via the Positive Grid app, can be loaded with four of the 10,000 presets on offer. And if you hit the ideal sonic combo, you can even save it as a preset, upload it and generously share it with other users. So the library is only growing. And, to hammer out your own custom preset, you’re provided with a full army of insanely realistic guitar amp simulations and just as wide an array of bass amplifier simulations – and all of it comes piled on top of an immense stack of effects.
A Recording, Rehearsing & Learning Tool
The Positive Grid Spark MINI can even be set up to serve as an audio interface, so it can be directly hooked up to a computer. Want to learn some new material? Rather than scrolling through bad tabs on the internet, use the Auto Chords section of the app, which detects and displays the chords of a track in real-time; allows you to loop more tricky sections so you can nail them at your own pace; and can even change the tempo so you can start slow and speed up when you’re ready. Perhaps the biggest, littlest combo on the planet, the fully portable edition of the Spark gives you almost everything that the full-sized Spark does, but can literally be taken anywhere.
