With a diameter of 0.630 inches (160 millimetres), the Meinl SB130 Concert HD2 can be called a rather hefty boy. However, this set of drumsticks is made of light hickory and has a long taper, so most of the weight is at the back of the stick, so even subtle playing is no problem at all. The wooden tip gives the sound some warmth, and the barrel shape gives you a somewhat fuller, clearly articulated sound. That makes these sticks suitable for use behind a drum kit in a rock band, but also for a percussionist in an orchestra. What is certainly for the latter group and great advantage of these sticks: they are not only weight-matched, but also pitch-matched. This way, no matter which hand you play it with, every beat sounds exactly the same.
