Backed up by a potent 3-band EQ for precise tweaks, the Suhr Rufus is a highly flavourful fuzz effects pedal that covers both that vintage ’69 vibe as well as more modern and aggressive sounds. Thanks to the in-built mf(x) switching function, this pedal basically sets you up with two modes – Fat and Normal – that can be swiftly selected as needed. Also, since the Rufus leaves the source audio fully intact, you’re never losing out on any lows and you could even use this pedal in combination with a bass. When the pedal is turned off, the true-bypass function leaves your tone uncoloured.
Treble Switch & FX Link
Suhr have equipped this fuzz pedal with a Treble switch so you can quickly toggle between three different settings, where flipping the switch to the left limits the high frequencies for a warmer sound, while flipping it to the right boosts the highs for more bite and attack. Leaving it in the middle gets you the flatter response of a classic ’70s fuzz. Last but not least, Rufus comes with an FX Link mode to support external toggling options, giving you the option to control the fuzz externally or activate the ’ON’, ’Remote’ and ’Bypass’ modes.
