The Suhr Koji is an incredibly flexible, fully analogue compression pedal that leaves the original sound completely intact, whether you’re going for vintage or modern tone. Essentially a parallel compressor, the Mix control determines the degree of transparency, while the 3-way Voice switch is used to select the preferred type of compression. Here, the left position gives you a high/mid boost for enhanced attack; the middle position offers a transparent, flat response; and the right position activates a mid and high frequency boost that results in a supple, ’glassy’ sound that’s perfect for leads or a semi-overdriven sound.
Multifunctional LED and Advanced Features
The LED planted in the middle does more than simply indicate whether the pedal is active or not. In fact, this 3-colour LED doubles as a Gain Reduction indicator. When it’s green, you get minimal gain reduction. When it’s orange, you’re looking at medium gain reduction. And when it’s red, you’re given significant gain reduction. Other advanced features include Selectable Bypass Mode (true/buffered), FX Link for the option to externally toggle the compression effect, and a Low Battery Monitor function that shows the battery status and automatically sets the Koji to true bypass mode when the battery is almost dead.
